During smart charging, the\u00a0charging time and rate of an electric vehicle are controlled.\u200b<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-2 wp-block-column\">\n<p>The development of an integrated smart charging solution meets significant&nbsp;technical challenges and requires the cooperation of&nbsp;numerous stakeholders (e.g.,&nbsp;electric vehicle users, charging point operators, e-mobility service providers,&nbsp;market operators,&nbsp;system and network operators, electricity suppliers, electric&nbsp;vehicle aggregator).\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Electric Vehicle Aggregator (EV Aggregator) is a new entity that can take over&nbsp;the central management of the smart charging&nbsp;of numerous electric vehicles and&nbsp;interact with the various stakeholders in an optimal way.\u200b<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The object of ELVIS is the development of a prototype integrated tool for the&nbsp;management of smart charging by an EV Aggregator&nbsp;in order to provide cost-effective charging to electric vehicle users while providing ancillary services to&nbsp;the system and network&nbsp;operators.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-6 wp-block-group alignfull has-black-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#e5e9ec\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-container-5 wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center\">\n<div class=\"wp-container-4 wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center\">\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Innovation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Develop highly accurate, online CS load profiling and forecasting tools, by considering real-world CS\u00a0measurements as the training and evaluation dataset. The real CS information will be\u00a0provided by two\u00a0Cooperating Organizations, namely a CS network administrator\/owner operating in mainland of Greece\u00a0and an EV fleet operator in the island of Rhodes.\u200b<\/li><li>\u200bDevelop new mathematical models for optimal bidding strategy in EU-based electricity markets,\u00a0including DAM, IDM and BM. The models will be able to solve in real-time, large-scale,\u00a0stochastic optimization problems, which will be the case with large EV fleets.\u200b<\/li><li>\u200bEnable business model flexibility for capturing\u00a0the most\u00a0of the market share. ELVIS platform will be able\u00a0to engage successfully with existing business models or with emerging ones, by\u00a0providing customized\u00a0service versions for each model (for example consider a case that EVA participates in BM only and not in\u00a0DAM or IDM). Provided flexibility extends also to the type of\u00a0engaged stakeholders, considering several\u00a0more types than individual end-users, like EV fleet Operators.\u200b<\/li><li>\u200bImplement a dedicated CS management system, on top of the OCPP global open communication\u00a0protocol, to act as the underlying infrastructure interconnecting all managed CSs and enabling\u00a0their\u00a0remote management and control in a unified way. The adoption of OCPP will foster interoperability\u00a0across CSs developed by different manufacturers and allow involvement of the EVA in\u00a0various business\u00a0models and CS-unspecific business development.\u200b<\/li><li>\u200bDevelop a sophisticated OCPP compliant testbed emulating the charging behavior and interactions of\u00a0real CSs, to enable large-scale smart charging experimentation and pushing of\u00a0optimization and\u00a0forecasting operations to the limits.\u200b<\/li><li>\u200bProvide user-friendly interfaces for EV users and CS administrators to promote user adoption. A\u00a0dedicated hybrid smartphone application for end-users with real-time information about\u00a0connected CS\u00a0availability, charging cost, etc. and an administration dashboard for holistic monitoring across all\u00a0managed CSs will be delivered.\u200b<\/li><li>\u200bDemonstrate the platform operation and evaluate the market-based smart charging performance under\u00a0real-world conditions in a pilot engaging real EV users at municipal level.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-10 wp-block-group alignfull has-white-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-container-9 wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-container-8 wp-block-column\">\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><strong>Impact<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-7 wp-block-group alignwide\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<p>The innovative approach of ELVIS has the potential to pose significant and diverse impact, across several&nbsp;areas of the broader EV ecosystem:\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Scientific: Combine state-of-the-art mathematical models, scientific methods and prototype&nbsp;implementation considering real-world business models and stakeholder engagement, resulting&nbsp;in&nbsp;disruptive outcomes.
